SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability
At Mutts Tees, we believe clothing should be made thoughtfully, not wastefully.
That’s why every product is made to order using Printful’s print-on-demand fulfilment model. Rather than mass-producing stock that may never sell, each item is created only after a customer places an order. This approach helps reduce overproduction, excess inventory, and unnecessary textile waste.
Made to Order
Traditional fashion manufacturing often relies on large production runs, which can result in unsold garments ending up in landfill or being destroyed.
By using on-demand production, Mutts Tees avoids creating excess stock. Every t-shirt, hoodie, and long sleeve garment is printed specifically for the customer who ordered it.
While no manufacturing process is completely impact-free, print-on-demand significantly reduces the waste associated with conventional retail production models.
Global Fulfilment Network
Printful operates fulfilment centres across Europe, the UK, North America, Australia, Japan, and other regions worldwide.
Orders are typically produced at the facility closest to the customer whenever possible, helping reduce shipping distances and lowering transportation-related emissions. Printful states that over 85% of orders are fulfilled within the same region where they are delivered.
This also allows for faster delivery times and more efficient logistics.
Eco-Friendly Product Options
Many products available through Mutts Tees are part of Printful’s eco-friendly collection.
These garments contain organic, recycled, or sustainably sourced materials, and Printful requires recognised third-party certifications such as GOTS, OCS, GRS, and RCS to verify material claims.
Printful defines eco-friendly apparel products as containing at least 70% organic or recycled materials within its current eco collection.
As Mutts Tees grows, we aim to expand the range of environmentally conscious garments available across the store.
Sustainable Packaging
Printful has transitioned much of its apparel packaging to post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailers.
Current packaging standards include:
• At least 70% recycled plastic globally
• 90–100% recycled plastic packaging for apparel orders in North America
These recycled materials help reduce reliance on virgin plastics while remaining fully recyclable where local facilities exist.
Whenever possible, multiple items fulfilled at the same facility are shipped together to help reduce packaging waste and transport impact.
Reducing Waste
Even with on-demand production, some textile waste is unavoidable. Printful states that it works to repurpose, recycle, or reuse leftover fabric wherever possible, including converting scraps into other products or recycling materials through specialist partners.
This ongoing approach helps minimise unnecessary waste throughout the production process.
Transparency & Continuous Improvement
Sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a finished destination.
Mutts Tees partners with Printful because of their commitment to improving production methods, packaging, material sourcing, and operational transparency over time. Printful publicly shares information about its sustainability initiatives, packaging standards, carbon footprint research, and supplier certification requirements.
We recognise that all manufacturing has an environmental impact, but we believe responsible, made-to-order production is a more thoughtful alternative to fast fashion and mass overproduction.
